Procalcitonin: Sounding the Alarm in Bacterial Sepsis

Sepsis is a complex clinical condition associated with infection and is a leading cause of death worldwide. The often-sudden onset, coupled with rapid disease progression, means many patients are diagnosed late, leading to increased morbidity and mortality. Biomarkers can be a valuable tool aiding identification of sepsis and facilitating earlier intervention. Clinical evidence indicates procalcitonin (PCT) is a biomarker associated with bacterial sepsis, which accounts for approximately 80% of cases.

Learn how PCT is utilized in the diagnosis and management of a septic patient in this complimentary webinar.
